“Opening Doors” Campaign at 10 Downing Street

Our charity was extremely honoured on 13th May 2014 by kind invitation of the Prime Minister’s wife Samantha Cameron by launching our Opening Doors campaign at No. 10 Downing Street. The launch was personally hosted by Mrs Cameron who addressed all the guests and explained how she admired what our charity did and the work we were doing with young children. David Cameron also sent a special message to supporters in which he expressed his admiration for the work that we do.

Our “Opening Doors” campaign is focussed on expanding U Support’s geographical scope by opening more doors across the UK to provide more experiences for disadvantaged and disabled children on a more national level. The venue could not be more apt by opening one of the world’s most famous doors, No 10 Downing Street.

Attending the reception at the event were some of the youngsters who have been helped by U Support also there were a large number of supporters and some familiar celebrities including Dave Myers (one half of the Hairy Bikers) and most of the finalists of this years “The Voice” including the winner Jermain Jackman.

"Oh Yes He Is" "Oh No He Isn't"

Following on from the huge succes of U Supports last pantomime trip it was decided that we had to make it a yearly plan!

This year, with the help of the fundraising efforts at Sainsbury's and John Lewis we took children from the Cedar School, Naomi House, Jacks Place, Southampton Social Services and Portsmouth in the Community to see Robinson Crusoe and The Caribbean Pirates, at the Mayflower Theatre's relaxed performance, on Wednesday 8th January 2014.

After the resounding success and fantastic feedback that we have received, plans are already in place for next years performance!

What's Happening

As Sainsbury's Eastleigh stores Charity of the year there has been a lot of fundraising happening!

Following on from the Mardi Gras event in September we will be in store in December selling raffle tickets to help us purchase tickets for the upcoming relaxed performance pantomime at the Mayflower Theatre. We will be taking 80 children and their carers along to the event with children coming along from the Cedar School, Naomi House, Jacks Place, Southampton Social Services and Portsmouth in the Community.
